The SADC Secretariat drafted the Terms of Reference (TOR) for the proposed coordination structure to be called SADC End TB Committee (SETC). The TOR was presented to the SADC to the Health Ministers Forum in November 2022 at its meeting in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The Ministers endorsed in principle the establishment of this structure. However the Secretariat was requested to improve on the TOR in consultation with the countries and request countries to make nomination to this committee. Therefore the Secretariat has improved on the TOR and shared with the member states for further inputs and in the same vein the member states were requested to make nomination to the SETC.

Objective of the meeting

The SADC Secretariat is convening an inaugural meeting of the SETC to finalize the process of validating the TORs, establishing the coordination structure label, and the Committee working methods work.

The Specific objective of the meetings are to:

1. Finalize the TORS of the committee
2. Elect office bearers
3. Review current regional initiatives addressing TB, including TB in the mining sector
4. Develop a work plan
5. Prepare report for presentation in the SADC Health Ministers forum
