In addressing the burden of TB in the region there is a need to widely involve key partners and stakeholders such asjournalists. The media plays an important role when it comes to advocacy and behaviour change communication necessary for combating TB including TB in the mines. However, there is need to build capacity of the media practitioners on responsible and informed reporting on TB to create the desired impact. There the planned workshop responds to that need. In addition, the planned workshop builds on a previous workshop that has seen improved and better reporting on TB and TB in the mining sector in the region. Therefore, the workshop shall enabled sustained and better reporting on TB in the mining sector in the region and thus ensure the TB in the mines remains high on national and regional agenda.

This training will bring together journalists from government and private media outlets across 13 countries implementing the TIMS Phase III project. There will be 3 journalists selected from each country, including Angola, Botswana, DRC, Eswatini, Madagascar, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia, Tanzania, Malawi, Zimbabwe, and Mozambique, resulting in a total of 39 participants to be trained.
